Good evening to my patient followers. I am typing this from my new apartment in Nashville. It’s a nice place and thankfully very quiet, so a good place to compose.
As I’ve gotten here during the summer break, there isn’t a lot of classical music going on until the next semester starts back up at the local schools. I have heard some good jazz so far though.
The piece this week is a continuation of a piece from an earlier post, the “Lullaby for Viola and Piano”. You can go back through the archive to hear it. It’s easily one of the best things I’ve put on here. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m working on putting together a collection of movements for viola and piano, probably to be called “Songs” because they are melodically focused and formally straightforward. (Another one in the set is “Fur Dina” from a few posts ago.)
Min’s recommended listening for this week:
Villa-Lobos — Sexteto Mistico
Taneyev — String Quartet no. 6 in B-flat
Haydn String Quartet Op. 20 no. 1 in E-flat
Min’s recommended watch for this week:
Porco Rosso
Min’s recommended smoke for this week:
Cain Habano Torpedo
